The draft

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Frequent tours for U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan have stressed the all-volunteer force and made it worth considering a return to a military draft, President Bush's new war adviser said Friday.

Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute is the president's war adviser. Several retired generals turned down the post.

"I think it makes sense to certainly consider it," Army Lt. Gen. Douglas Lute said in an interview with National Public Radio's "All Things Considered."

Man oh man - please let the Right (not Rangel) try to reinstitute it, I beg of you. Just let them try.

Unless I'm overestimating Americans once again...thinking like a hippie...

Nixon terminated the draft too late for me. It has some merit, but certainly not as another tool
in the hands of the neocons.

I share you sentiments, but think the only use of this particular tool by the neocons would be to hammer themselves eye deep into the electoral ground.
